It starts with a giant leap of faith. A plunge into the great unknown. The key is to trust that, as the journey begins, you will land on your own two feet, and if you don’t, you will be able to pick yourself up and keep going. This is the journey of the Fool.
“Nature loves courage. You make the commitment and nature will respond to that commitment by removing impossible obstacles. Dream the impossible dream and the world will not grind you under, it will lift you up. This is the trick. This is what all the teachers and philosophers who really counted, who really touched the alchemical gold, this is what they understood. This is the shamanic dance in the waterfall. This is how magic is done. By hurling yourself into the abyss and discovering its a feather bed.” (Terence Mckenna).
In the practice of Tarot, “the Fool represents the need to set forth on a new journey, one that is completely unknown and will take you to uncharted territories. The Fool is all about new experiences, personal growth, development and adventure.” (BiddyTarot).
I have found myself standing at the edge of the cliff. Inspired by many, I know that I must go blindly off the ledge. Each day is an adventure and each moment lived to the fullest. It is time for me to prepare for the fall. As I watch the life I leave behind slowly burn, I let go of something great, opening up to unlimited potential. My greatest tools I will bring with me along the way, are the virtues I was inspired to develop to hold myself to a standard of moral excellence. All I have is myself to hold onto, I want to hold on to someone I can respectfully admire. Without fear, freedom from worry and anxiety, the time to follow my heart, no matter how foolish my impulses may seem, has come. So I become, the virtuous fool.
